Win-Mar Freight’s Chad Friesen was invited to participate in the 2011 pre-budget consultation round table at held at the Radisson Plaza Hotel Saskatchewan in Regina, on January 19th.

The meeting was made up of 17 carefully selected participants, all of which represented a leadership position in their respective industries.  The day consisted of a briefing from the Finance Officials, a presentation by Michael Horgan, Deputy Minister, and remarks from Minister Flaherty to the round table participants.  We then had discussions in 4 break-out groups to elaborate on four specific questions presented by the Minister of Finance’s office.  I was elected to speak on behalf of our group to voice the topics we discussed and debated on.

A plenary session with Minister Flaherty and round table participants followed.  Most participants spoke about their specific industry and provided feedback and discussion.  I also had the opportunity to articulate our views to Minister Flaherty privately.

I was honored to be part of this consultation and felt the Minister and his staff were definitely listening and valued the panels comments.
